Treatments
Each treatment is designed specifically to target a given skill. Here are some things you will see on treatment screens:
END: This button in the upper left corner of the screen will always be visible to allow you to end a session. All your data will be saved if the treatment is assigned to a patient.
SKIP: This button in the upper right corner of the screen is usually visible to allow you to skip to the next trial or to skip the Metacognitive Framework.
HINT: This button in the lower left corner will reveal new information (audio, text, shadow text, etc) to make the exercise easier. Using the Hint will mark the trial as incorrect since the original task was not completed as intended. However, it's always better to complete the trial with help than not at all.
BACK: This button in the lower left corner will you back to the previous screen. If you do not see a Back button, you cannot move back to the previous exercise.
SUBMIT: This button in the lower right corner will submit an answer to be checked for accuracy.
NEXT: This button in the lower right corner will move to the next screen.
SLP Toolbar
This top bar is visible only during in-clinic sessions (not on homework sessions). This bar may contain score information, scoring buttons, and/or a drop-down level selector. It can be shown or hidden at any time by pressing the show/hide button on the left side.
Hide the SLP Toolbar when a patient is working alone, is sensitive to accuracy data, or needs minimal on-screen distractions. Show the SLP Toolbar when scoring the level of independence, changing levels, or monitoring accuracy.
Levels
Some treatments have different levels of difficulty. The levels may vary by complexity, number or relatedness of foils, or other cognitive-linguistic demands or features. You can see what each level contains by using the drop-down menu in the SLP Toolbar at the top of the screen. Most treatments will start about a third of the way through the levels; some treatments start on the first level. Some treatments have a MAX level which will randomize the exercises once the top level has been mastered.
Auto-Adjustment in Difficulty
The treatments with levels will auto-adjust in difficulty based on the patient's performance. If the patient gets 3 in a row correct, they will move up to a harder level. If they get 2 in a row wrong, they will move to an easier level. This is intended to keep the patient in the "frustration-free zone" where performance is mostly correct but not too easy.
Cues
Some treatments have cues along the bottom. The cues can be pressed in any order to reveal a new question or more information about the answer.
Examples of cue treatments include:
- Naming Single Nouns
- Semantic Feature Analysis
- Phonological Component Analysis
Sequences
Several treatments are multi-step sequences. Along the top of the screen, you will see each step, with your current step highlighted.
Examples of sequence treatments include:
- Remembering Names
- Planning Tasks
PDF Summary
Some treatments have a downloadable PDF you can print or share at the end of your session. This PDF will have the content of your session.
Examples of treatments that have PDFs include:
- Managing Attention
- Planning Your Tasks
