Repeating Single Syllable Words
SKILL: Talking
DIFFICULTY: 1/5
LEVELS: NA
BRIEF RATIONALE: This treatment uses integral stimulation to work on repeating short words.
In Repeating Single Syllable Words, you first will select an initial sound or consonant cluster to focus on.
There are 4 steps in the sequence:
- WATCH & LISTEN: The animated model will say the target word that is written at the top of the screen. The videos in this treatment can be replayed as needed.
- SAY IT TOGETHER: You will say the target word in chorus with the animated model.
- ON YOUR OWN: You will say the target word with a visual model only.
- SAY IT 5X: You will indicate that you've said the target word 5x. There is the option to replay the audio of the target word as needed.
FOR THE CLINICIAN: This treatment is based on an integral stimulation approach that follows a "listen to me, watch me, do what I do" sequence. The patient will watch the animated model (known as Seth), who simulates the movement of articulators like a real-life model. If additional support is required during this treatment, you may offer articulatory placement cues (e.g. touch the tip of your tongue behind your top teeth) or tactile cues to indicate the correct place of articulation or to demonstrate a speech movement gesture by touching the patient's face, neck, or head.
