Identifying Letters

SKILL: Reading

DIFFICULTY: 1/5

LEVELS: 24 based on number of choices, similarities between shapes, and letter case

BRIEF RATIONALE: This treatment works on letter name to visual letter matching for pre-reading skills.

In Identifying Letters, you will hear a letter name and select the matching letter. You can replay the audio any time by pressing the audio button. The treatment auto-adjusts in difficulty based on performance.

HINT: A hint button is available in the lower-left corner of the screen to play audio of the choices. Using the hint will mark the item as incorrect (as it was not answered with the audio stimulus only), but may help you identify the correct letter.

FOR THE CLINICIAN: This treatment benefits those with impaired letter naming, a skill required for letter-by-letter reading (deciphering a word by saying the individual letters aloud).

A tactile cue can be incorporated in this treatment for a multi-modal approach, as well as error monitoring for improved accuracy as demonstrated by Sage and colleagues (2005).
